2022 Volkswagen Amarok

The 2022 Volkswagen Amarok teaser brings the truck closer to reality.

The Volkswagen design sketch of the next-generation Amarok appearance. The adjacent image was shown in the background when chairman Herbert Diess said the Amarok will be one of the first fruits of the collaboration between Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and Ford. When Volkswagen dropped the first teaser image depicting. That one was more along the lines of a concept like design sketch as it had oversized wheels and lacked door handles. There were some other exaggerated design details, this new official photo provided by Volkswagen Commercial Services brings the truck closer to reality.

While the original teaser illustrated the pickup with only two doors, the latest Amarok preview shows the workhorse in a double cab configuration. Aside from gaining rear doors, the truck has also been fitted with roof rails, an LED light bar, and a roll bar in the bed. Volkswagen also tweaked the front bumper by making the fog lights more visible than before, while the X-shaped silver panel has made way for a less imposing design.

The design sketch previews a powerful look for the overhauled Amarok. Automakers have the tendency to exaggerate many of the details when they release sketches and we have a feeling it is the same story with this one. The truck is being shown with a bulging hood, giant wheels, chunky off road tires, and no door handles. These are all signs of a rather eye catching teaser than an actual production model, but it should still give us a pretty good understanding of what to expect from the actual truck.

The orange accents are still there, and so are the square wheel arches and the silver mirrors. The side caps now integrate the turn signals, thus further suggesting the design is closer to production than last year sketch. The hood on the original teaser looked tall enough to hamper visibility, but it has now been slimmed down for the updated image. Another noticeable change is a more visible character line starting from the upper corner of the headlights, extending right below the beltline before rising to meet the rear pillar. It is said to have around 300 horsepower, but more importantly, mountain moving torque.

The next-generation Volkswagen Amarok new pickups will be launched and will go on sale as early as 2022.
