The budget crossover Kia Sonet 7.
The Kia Sonet 7 crossover appeared last summer, the main market for it is India and production is also established there. At the same time, the model is supplied to other countries and the export version has been finalized.
The new version was called Sonet 7, there are no external differences from the basic five seater cross and they did not stretch the car either. An additional sofa was installed right in the trunk, for which, according to the Indonesian media, the floor had to be modernized. The sofa is removable, you can not only fold the back, but also lean it against the second row of chairs. The volume of the cargo compartment of the Sonet 7 in Kia was not named, the five seater local cross country, 392 liters according to the VDA standard. By the way, specialized media in Indonesia note that the third row is suitable for passengers no higher than 160 centimeter.
The length of Sonet crossover is 4,120 mm while for an Indian version this figure is 3,995 mm in India, cars with a length of less than four meters are entitled to tax incentives. The wheelbase is the same for all variants 2,500 mm. Thus, the export Sonet is comparable in length to our hatch Lada Xray 4,165 mm and the distance between the axles of the Lada is even greater 2,592 mm. It is all the more surprising that the Kia compact is now also available in a seven seater version and so far only in Indonesia.
The engine also switched from the usual Sonet the crossover is available to the Indonesians with an uncontested naturally aspirated 1.5-liter with 115 horsepower, which is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox or an Intelligent Variable Transmission. In India, the model has a wider engine range, there is also a diesel engine but in any case only front-wheel drive.
The seven seater Kia Sonet got a multimedia system with a 10.25-inch touchscreen, only an 8-inch screen is put into the standard cross in Indonesia, although in India the model had a large tablet initially. But the three-row version does not have a sunroof. Otherwise, the list of equipment is the same as that of a five-seater crossover, the top version has six airbags, a rear view camera, LED optics, climate control, cruise control and wireless charging for a smartphone.
Kia has not yet announced plans to sell the seven seater cross in other markets.
