All-New 2022 Nissan Pathfinder

Nissan Pathfinder

The All-New 2022 Nissan Pathfinder is staying in the family crossover milieu. The 2022 Nissan Pathfinder bringing the techno chic curb appeal of the redesigned Rogue and facelifted Armada in midsize three row crossover form. This new version of the three row SUV prioritizes cupholders over suspension travel, although it does looks a bit more rugged and far more modern than before. And if you are keen on nostalgia, know that Nissan has incorporated at least one subtle design cue from the original, the three slats at the top of the grille that hark back to the first generation truck based Pathfinder.

The Pathfinder also adds a long list of safety and connectivity equipment to its roster with family friendly interior packaging and reasonable performance to boot. The 2022 Nissan Pathfinder SUV should also be more enjoyable to drive since Nissan is throwing the old model droning continuously variable transmission in the scrap heap replaced by a conventional nine speed automatic gearbox. Though still a unibody crossover SUV with either front or all-wheel drive, the new Pathfinder offers seven different terrain modes as well as up to 6,000 pounds of towing capacity.

The new Pathfinder dashboard looks far more attractive and its tech offerings are finally up to class standards. The standard infotainment system is an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity upper trims offer a larger 9.0-inch screen and can be had with wireless Apple CarPlay capability. The top Platinum trim also comes with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a head up display along with nicer leather trim.

The naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 engine is carryover but its specs remain competitive enough in the three-row SUV segment, 284 horsepower and 259 pound feet of torque. The biggest powertrain change is a nine speed automatic from supplier ZF that replaces the continuously variable automatic from before. Front wheel drive is standard with all-wheel drive optional on all trims and all wheel drive models get a set of driving modes meant for various terrains including snow, sand, and mud.

The Pathfinder should be an impressively stress free place to while away a long road trip. Adding to that sense of tranquility will be acoustic laminated front door glass, thicker rear door glass, and added door and floor isolation.

The 2022 Nissan Pathfinder trim, S, SV, SL, and Platinum will be available in front or all-wheel drive.
