Hyundai Ioniq 5
The 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 has largely retained its design by adopting the same angular appearance with sharp lines and minuscule overhangs. Pop-out door handles give it a clean profile, further accentuated by the use of cameras instead of conventional side mirrors.
Those two-tone alloy wheels measure 20 inches and are aero optimized for better airflow. Hyundai took a similar approach with the side mirrors to improve the aerodynamic coefficient by replacing the conventional glass with cameras.
Inside, a truly flat floor layout provided by the E-GMP platform should offer a generous amount of legroom. The Ioniq 5 will have a sliding front center console and fully reclining front seats while the rear ones will slide back and forth.
The dashboard is dominated by a pair of 12 inch screens one for the driver display and the other for the infotainment with both housed in a large piece of glass à la Mercedes Benz. The Ioniq 5 also has the gear selector mounted on a lever behind the steering wheel as well as a head up display with augmented reality support.
The Ioniq 5 offers 168 horsepower and 350 Newton meters of torque. Step up to the all wheel drive model combined with the smaller battery and you get a rear motor rated at 161 horsepower and 350 Newton meters of torque working together with a front motor producing 71 horsepower and 255 Newton meters of torque.
Hyundai new EV can be had with the bigger battery and rear wheel drive in which case the electric motor mounted at the back produces 215 horsepower and 350 Newton meters of torque.
