Ford’s New EV Pickup May Resurrect A Cult Classic
Ford's Upcoming Electric Pickup Could Revive a Beloved Classic, Dismiss Lightning.
The Ford Ranchero is what Australians refer to as a ute, essentially a two-door vehicle featuring a bed in the rear instead of a conventional enclosed trunk.
Ford is developing a midsize electric pickup, rather than a compact one, which is anticipated to have a unibody design and is expected to be the first vehicle to utilize a new modular electric vehicle architecture.
Ford might simply name its new smaller electric pickup Ranger EV or Ranger Lightning. However, there is a significant possibility that it will adopt an entirely different name, as it will not share mechanical ties with the body-on-frame combustion truck, in contrast to the F150 Lightning, which is merely an electric variant of the standard F150.
