2021 All-New Tata Safari

All-New Tata Safari

The Tata Safari is a mid-size SUV produced by the Indian automobile manufacturer Tata Motors since 1998, with the second-generation model being introduced in 2021 as a crossover.

The Tata range in the nineties saw the expansion into new markets with newer models such as the Indica city car and the Safari. The Safari has been designed as a seven-seater SUV with a foldable third row, roomy interior; on the market it has positioned itself as an alternative from the competitive price to other off-road vehicles.

Tata Motors showed back in March 2019 at the Geneva Motor Show, and in February 2020, already at the Auto Expo home exhibition, a pre production version, renamed Gravitas, debuted. It was believed that the last name would be retained for the commercial model, moreover, the corresponding inscription was flaunted on the stern of the recently caught conveyor cross.

The five seater SUV launched in the home market last year, it is based on the Omega Arc platform, this is how Tata designated the cheaper version of the D8 trolley, from Jaguar Land Rover, the Indians own a British company, based on the original platform, for example, former Land Rover Discovery Sport. Outwardly, the stretched cross differs from its brother in a front grille and a rear bumper, its headlight units have a chrome edging instead of a glossy one, plus the tailgate was replaced, the windows in the rear pillars were made larger. The dimensions of the serial Safari have not yet been announced. The length of the Gravitas is 4661mm, which is 63mm longer than that of the Tata Harrier, the wheelbase of the cars is identical 2741mm.

2021 Hyundai Bayon Teasers

Hyundai Bayon

The company upcoming entry level crossover to the polarizing design language pompously dubbed as Sensuous Sportiness. Marketing fluff aside, it would appear the Bayon will be just as funky as the Kona, adopting a similar split headlight design.

Take a first glimpse at the design of the all-new Hyundai Bayon. This subcompact crossover SUV will incorporate Hyundai Sensuous Sportiness design identity, combining emotional value with innovative solutions in design.

The front grille appears to be unusually large and is complemented by an upper horizontal slat between the LED daytime running lights in a design inspired by the Kona. The similarities end there as the rear end hosts completely different taillights with an LED signature designed to resemble an arrow. It would appear the Bayon is the next model to get a light bar stretching across the entire width of the tailgate.

Hyundai is not willing to go into any details regarding the crossover technical specifications, but given the Bayon positioning at the bottom of the food chain, do not expect anything particularly exciting. It is likely sticking to three cylinder power and a front wheel drive layout with the possibility to pick from a manual gearbox and a dual-clutch automatic.

The subcompact crossover will go on sale in Europe in the first half of 2021, which means the official reveal is programmed to take place in the coming weeks.

Dacia Bigster Concept

The new Dacia flagship SUV rumors surrounding a have been circulating for years. The Group Renault newly announced Renaulution strategic plan sees Alpine becoming an EV brand and joining forces with Lotus for an electric sports car but there is also news about the budget brand Dacia. The Romanian marque will be expanded in the years to come with the addition of three new models, one of which will compete in the C-segment.

It will be 181.1 inches long, thus making it about 11 inches longer than the aforementioned Duster. The compact SUV is being engineered to accommodate hybrid and alternative powertrains with the latter likely meaning liquified petroleum gas and or compressed natural gas.

Its silhouette is not far off from the Duster, but from a design standpoint, the Bigster looks like no vehicle in Dacia portfolio. It has a very futuristic lighting signature up front, chunky cladding on the lower parts of the body made of recycled plastic, a muscular bonnet, wide fenders and Y-shaped horizontal taillights. Unless Dacia surprises us, you should expect a far less dramatic design when the vehicle hits production in around four years from now.

Eagle eyed readers will notice Dacia appears to have a new logo, but details about whether it will actually be used going forward are not available for now. If that is the case, the low cost brand will follow Kia, and General Motors as both companies recently refreshed their brand identities.

2025 Renault 5 EV Prototype – Supermini With Retro-Modern Styling

Renault 5 EV Prototype

Renault has revealed that the iconic 5 hatchback is to be revived as the keystone of an electric transformation from the brand that will see seven fully electric Renaults launched by 2025.

Renault labels the new 5 iconic hatchback here as a prototype rather than a concept, which means the production version likely will not stray away from this retro tastic design. That red stripe is likely a nod to the hot hatch version dubbed Renault 5 GT Turbo back in the day, which may hint its modern day EV counterpart will spawn a performance derivative.

The new Renault 5 will be a five door electric supermini with the rear doors neatly integrated into the design and hidden door handles in the C-pillar. Huge flared wheel arches are a nod to the more extreme Turbo I and II variants of the original Renault 5 homologated for world rallying.

No interior shots have been revealed, but the cabin appears to be a minimalist environment, with only a transparent digital instrument panel visible on top of the dashboard.

The company is also setting up the Mobilize sub brand with four EV a tiny Twizy like model, the Dacia Spring, Jiangling Renault GSE and a cargo van.

2021 MG Extender Pickup Truck

MG Extender Pickup Truck

The MG Motor a brand under the SAIC Motor umbrella, has a pickup truck that could stir some emotion for consumers looking for a car that departs from the refinement of a crossover and conquers roads less traveled. The Extender is Morris Garages entry into the midsize pickup segment.

The MG Extender made waves because of its 2.0L diesel engine with two turbos. The motor produces 214 hp and 480 Nm of torque. More powerful than the Ford Ranger Raptor, but with slightly less torque. Still, crossing the 200hp-mark is a feat that only a few other models, like the Chevrolet Colorado and Ford Ranger, have achieved in the midsize pickup truck segment. Lower variants of the Extender have the same displacement engine but with one turbo fewer that results in a power figure of 161 hp and 375 Nm of torque. There are two transmissions to choose from which include a 6-speed manual and automatic. For drivetrains, 4x2 and 4x4 options are available.

The SAIC Motor to supply two brands with what is essentially the same vehicle with two different corporations. Perhaps could be receptive to the MG Extender since the brand seems to be doing well with the popularity of its ZS crossover and the octagonal badge is now recognizable on the road.

Mitsubishi Mirage

The 2021 Mitsubishi Mirage gets a fresh look and more driver's aids. Great fuel mileage, a low price and an impressive warranty give this little hatch appeal.

That attention to cost means the new Mirage is still powered by the tiny 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine – its 78 horsepower is the least offered by any mainstream automaker – mated to either a five-speed manual or a CVT automatic.

Along with cosmetic changes – the Mirage gets Mitsubishi’s Dynamic Shield design front and rear, the grille and windshield alterations being particularly pleasing – there are some detail changes to the interior (better fabrics and cosmetic bits including some carbon-fibre inlays) as well a large 7-inch Smartphone-link Audio Display system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
