2021 Jaguar F-Type Heritage 60 – Rebadge Limited Edition

Jaguar F-Type Heritage 60

The 2021 F-Type a number of cues inspired by the legendary E-Type, which celebrates its sixteenth birthday in 2021. And while it is easy to home in on the gorgeous Sherwood Green paint job or the E-Type badging, this F-Type will stand out not for how it looks, but for how rare it is. Jaguar is only building 60 examples, and if that is not enough, Jaguar Land Rovers SV Bespoke team is building each car, available as either a hardtop coupe or a soft top convertible, by hand.

SV Bespoke's work includes the aforementioned Sherwood Green paint, a color that has not appeared in Jaguar's palette since the 1960s, it is to Jaguar as Guardsman Blue is to the Ford Mustang and Rosso Corsa is to Ferrari. The limited-edition cars sit on exclusive gloss-black 20-inch wheels and have gloss-black and chrome accents and black brake calipers.

The F-Type Heritage 60 is an understated tribute to the classic E-Type. Its powertrain, however, is the opposite of understated – each example features the F-Type R’s supercharged 5.0-liter V8. This raucous powerplant, good for 575 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque, hurls the two-seater to 60 in a brisk 3.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 186 miles per hour. Mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and a standard all-wheel-drive system, it’s fair to say that performance is one area the F-Type will eclipse the E.

Jaguar has not announced pricing for this rare take on the F-Type. Considering the limited production run and the hand built nature.

Nissan GT-R (X) 2050 Concept

Nissan GT-R (X) 2050

The Nissan GT-R (X) 2050 Concept, JB Choi created the original sketches and renderings of this concept while still a student at the ArtCenter College of Design. That led to an internship at Nissan Design America and eventually, the company decided it would develop the full scale model you see.

Measuring in at 10-feet long and just 2-feet tall, the low-slung GT-R (X) concept is closer to a superbike on four wheels than a traditional supercar. The concept does borrow some Nissan cues you might already be familiar with, like the signature V-Motion front end and quad rounded taillights. But one thing that truly separates this concept from every other supercar is the seating position.

As for Choi, his internship with Nissan Design America wrapped up earlier this year. The company was so impressed with his GT-R (X) concept, and the story behind it, though, that he now works full time at the studio. So expect more amazing designs from him in the future.

This concept is not hitting the Nissan production line anytime soon.

The 1990's Greatest JDM Cars

1990's Greatest JDM Cars

Japanese domestic market refers to Japan's home market for vehicles. For the importer, these terms refer to vehicles and parts designed to conform to Japanese regulations and to suit Japanese buyers. The term is abbreviated JDM.

Compared to the United States where vehicle owners are now owning vehicles for a longer period of time, with the average age of the American vehicle fleet at 10.8 years, Japanese owners contend with a strict motor vehicle inspection and gray markets. According to the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile, a car in Japan travels a yearly average of over only 9,300 kilometers (5,800 miles), less than half the U.S. average of 19,200 kilometers (12,000 miles).

Japanese domestic market vehicles may differ greatly from the cars that Japanese manufacturers build for export and vehicles derived from the same platforms built in other countries. The Japanese car owner looks more toward innovation than long-term ownership which forces Japanese carmakers to refine new technologies and designs first in domestic vehicles. For instance, the 2003 Honda Inspire featured the first application of Honda's Variable Cylinder Management. However, the 2003 Honda Accord V6, which was the same basic vehicle, primarily intended for the North American market, did not feature VCM, which had a poor reputation after Cadillac's attempt in the 1980s with the V8-6-4 engine. VCM was successfully introduced to the Accord V6 in its redesign for 2008.

In 1988, JDM cars were limited by voluntary self-restraints among manufacturers to 280 horsepower (PS) (276 hp) and a top speed of 180 km/h (111.8 mph), limits imposed by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA) for safety. The horsepower limit was lifted in 2004 but the speed limit of 180 km/h (111.8 mph) remains in effect. Many JDM cars have speedometers that register up to 180 km/h (111.8 mph) (certain Nissans go up to 190 km/h, and the GT-R has a mechanism that removes the speed limiter on a track) but all have speed limiters.

Genesis GV70

The 2022 Genesis GV70 will offer three different engines, the turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-four, the turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 and the 2.2-liter turbodiesel inline-four. Each will likely come with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Rear and all-wheel-drive will be available, the latter should be standard on the 3.5-liter engine. The GV70 should be a pretty stout rival for the Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X3, Lincoln Corsair, and Volvo XC60.

The 2022 Genesis GV70 will share its engine offerings with its larger SUV sibling, and that means a 2.5-liter four-cylinder will be standard, forced induction coming courtesy of a twin scroll turbocharger. The GV70 engine will produce 300 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque. For the 3.5-liter V6 with 375 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque, which will be one of the GV70 two optional engines. The second is a 2.2-liter turbodiesel making with 207 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque.

The Genesis will come with an electronic limited slip rear differential, a boon in both sporty driving and slippery conditions. The GV70 Sport, a sleeker take on the SUV styling. Blacked out badging exterior brightwork and the expressive color palette will help the GV70 stand out. It is unusual and attractive a descriptor that also applies to the smoothly rounded rear hatch marking the GV70 as the next evolution of Genesis brand design.

2022 Subaru BRZ STI Concept

Subaru BRZ STI Concept

Since the new 2022 Subaru BRZ was revealed. With the styling tweaks the new model gets a modest power boost from a larger 2.4-liter boxer four-cylinder engine. It is a step in the right direction for the small sports car but some people are already dreaming bigger.

Such a move would go against Subaru nimble sports car formula, but adding power with some aero tweaks and suspension upgrades can enhance that formula. The big question is whether Subaru would attempt to compete with itself by offering a BRZ STI next to the WRX STI?
